DEE SNIDER
| Dee
Snider Of course, best known as the lead singer of the acclaimed rock band, Twisted Sister, Dee Snider is more than a musician…Dee is a radio personality, television host, author, screenplay writer, actor, and most of all he is a doting husband of 27 years, and father of four children. With myriad appearances on VH-1, the Network could easily be called DeeH-1. Beginning in 2004, VH-1 Classic signed Dee to be a host and face of the cable Network. Among the many shows Dee has hosted for the network was 2005’s ‘Matzoh and Metal’, a show where Passover met Heavy Metal. Not able to get enough of Dee, VH-1 produced the special ‘Meet the Family’…an endearing look at Dee and his family. With a focus on Dee’s family, Bill Geddie, the Executive Producer of TV’s smash hit ‘The View’, signed up the Snider clan for a special episode of Bill’s Discovery Channel production, ‘The Party Planner’. The show, celebrating Dee’s 50th birthday was among the highest rated episodes. In radio, Dee begins his Eighth year hosting the nationally syndicated ‘House of Hair’. The weekly show is heard in over 175 markets across the country. Having had such great success in radio, legendary radio station WMMR in the nation’s fourth largest market, Philadelphia, hired Dee in 2004 to be their daily nighttime personality. Prior to Philadelphia, Dee hosted a top rated morning radio show heard in Hartford, CT and Richmond, VA. Within 12 months of Dee leaving his radio show, the radio station collapsed and was forced to flip its format. Never setting limits, Dee wrote, produced, and acted in ‘Dee Snider’s Strangeland’. This horror flick immediately struck a resonant chord with a legion of horror fans, elevating the movie to one of the most rented movies in its class. And now, taking Horror to a new level of awareness, Dee has signed on to become the face of cable television’s newest offering the Fangoria Channel. Named after the horror magazine, Fangoria will offer movies and television shows of all things Horror. Dee can do more than horror, and did, when he starred as Dee Snider, in VH-1’s 2002 original production of ‘Warning: Parental Advisory’. Co-starring Mariel Hemingway, Griffin Dunne and Jason Priestly, Dee re-created his role during the congressional record labeling hearings of the mid 1980’s. Battling the Washington wives, most notably, Tipper Gore, Dee, along with Frank Zappa and John Denver turned D.C. politics upside down, carrying the banner of Twisted’s legendary song “We’re Not Gonna Take It”. Nor would Arnold Schwarzenegger… In October of 2003, Arnold Schwarzenegger, enlisted Dee’s voice and passion, telling the citizens of California, that they shouldn’t take it anymore either. And, at his last political rally in Sacramento, Arnold Schwarzenegger, asked Dee to lead the way singing ‘We’re Not Gonna Take it’. And, California listened as the Terminator was elected Governor. Dee has also lent his very unique voice to scores of commercials, documentaries, video games, and perhaps most impressive, as the voice of MSNBC. But don’t think music is in Dee’s past. While he recently reunited with his original Twisted Sister mates, he keeps creating. His latest creation ‘Van Helsing’s Curse’ is an eighteen piece rock orchestra that mixes everything from Black Sabbath to Beethoven. Set to a spooky story line, written and narrated by Snider himself, Van Helsing’s Curse has been hailed by critics as The New soundtrack for Halloween. |
